LETTER NO. I TO V.I.

5 East 57th St.
New York 22, N.Y.

July 11th., 1949

Dear Mr. Seligman:

I hope that you and Mrs. Seligman had a very pleasant trip down and are by now already settled.

[] ordered for Sept. []

The Emile Mâle book, "L'art Allemand et l'art Française du Moyen Age" Paris, Edition 1917, is not to be had in any of the leading book dealers here. I called about eight of them. Wittenborn claims he could locate a copy (in three or four weeks) at about $3.00 (three dollars.)

Enclosed is a copy of your letter to Mr. Chauveau, signed for you by Mrs. Parker., and also a copy of my letter to Richard S. Davis, accompanying the photographs.

There is also a letter from Mr. Joseph Pulitzer, Jr., today. Dear Mr. Seligman: "I was glad to have your letter of July 2nd., but was naturally disappointed in its contents. Can you tell me if Baroness Gourgaud owns the pair of upright Braques illustrated in Einstein's book as the Canephorae and eluded to in Henry Hope's Museum of Modern Art Braque monograph? you speak of "the Braque" while I was under the impression it was a pair of figures about which we have been corresponding. With best wishes for a pleasant summer to you and your wife and with kind regards, SY.

I answered: Dr. Mr. P: In the absence of Mr. Germain Seligman, I am acknowledging your letter of July 8th., which will be held for his return. YVS.

Otherwise there is nothing at this moment,

Sincerely,

Mr. Germain Seligman
