Police Seize 4 For 6 Stickups In 2 Nights

Only $30 Left of $6000 Loot

A four-man holdup team, arrested by police after a tip, were accuse dtoday [[today]] of pulling off six stickups in two nights.

Two of the prisoners also are charged with another $4700 job on their own.

The loot from the holdups, which included four hotels, a restaurant, a drugstore and an oyster bar totaled almost $6000.

Only $30 Left.

But when the four were rounded up, they had only $30, police said. 

The rest had been spent on a whirlwind spree that included $100 suits, snappy ties and expensive shirts, splurges in night clubs and best on out-of-the-money horses. 

Acting on a tip, detectives trailed two of the suspects and closed in on them at the midtown hotel. Under questioning, the pair implicated two other youths.

The prisoners are Valentino Reynaud, 23, of 301 W. 21st St., and Arthur Morton, 18, of 227 E. 28th St., arrested first, and Raymond Dugan, 24, 24, 342 W. 85th St., and Edwin J. Jewell, 21, 31 W. 71st St., seized later at their homes.

The minor crime wasve [[wave]] was touched off by Reynaud and Morton, who admitted, police said, holding up the Drury Lane Restaurant, 5 E. 57th St., on Monday and escaping with $4700.

Quartet Seizes Truck.

All four admitted participating in a stickup of the Hotel Evans, 38th St. near Eighth Ave., the next night and getting away with $40, police reported.

After fleeing the Evans, according to their story, the quartet commandeered a delivery truck parked outside and used it in getaways from five holdups on the following night.

Two Pistols Found.

The stickups netted $200 at the Star Hotel, 30th St. and Ninth Ave.; $150 at the Adelphi Hotel, 23rd St. and 10th Ave.; $766 at the Boston Oyster Bar, Eighth Ave. between 40th and 41st St.; $110 at the Nevada Hotel, Broadway and 71st St., and $110 at a drugstore at 226 Ninth Ave.

During the Hotel Nevada holdup, David Lattimore, and employee, was shot in the right leg and is now in Roosevelt Hospital.

Police said two pistols were found in the hotel room occupied by Reynaud and Morton. 

The four youths were held on charges of assault and robbery and violation of the Sullivan law.
