5 East 57th Street, New York 22, N.Y. July 24, 1950 Dear Mr. Seligman: I received your letters of July 20th., and 21st., which had my very best attention. INVENTORY FRAMES: This is really an excellent idea and will very much facilitate keeping track of all the frames. I gave Jack a copy of your instructions. LETTERHEADS: are enclosed as requested. CRUCIFIXION DURANTHON: I indicated the sight measurements as requested in my letter of July 20th. However, on re-checking this picture myself I found that it is not altogether square, and am therefore enclosing a dummy of the exact size which gives you also dimensions of the sight. HOLMES PROTECTION: After a visit of their representative I am able to quote you the following figures. Complete installation of service which includes wiring of all of the windows - three elevator doors - three ventilation vents in the washroom and Jack's workshop $560.00 Monthy [[monthly]] service charge is $22.35. To the above figure a federal excise tax of 8% has been added. Please find below copy of my letter to Lloyd's in this connection. CUSTOMS DUTIES ON VELVETS: I am sorry that I was not in a position to send you this information last Friday, as Mr. Gelb's letter apparently went astray in the mail, and am now enclosing herein his report. LEFEBVRE FOINET: It is altogether beyond my understanding that they could be guilty of such negligence and I trust that the required information respecting the frames will be at hand shortly. However, I am happy to report that at my instruction Mr. Gelb succeed in having the two cases containing the pictures cleared separately, and I can expect [[strikethrough]] that [[/strikethrough]] them at our gallery sometime this week. If worse comes to worst and Lefebvre Foinet is not in a position to supply the necessary data I am afraid that the frames will have to be left at public stores until you return to New York, as I believe the authorities would only accept your expert opinion, particularly as to period. At all events I believe we should hold the shippers responsible for any and all extra charges in this connection. The delay about the shipment of the HOUDON bust is also inexplicable to me - after all you certainly gave them instructions in this connection in due time and with world wide donditions [[conditions]]as they are they certainly could have made an extra effort on our behalf, to have this statue dispatched. I also have no word at all about the shipment of your personally owned items. AIR MAIL
