Dear Mr. Seligman:

I am sending a note of which a copy is enclosed to Mr. Rathbone today to inquire whether we are to expect the von Kulmbach to be returned or whether he wishes to consider it. Curt Valentin had no inclination whatsoever to be the one to follow this up.

Sao Paulo: There has been complete silence on the part of everyone including the gentleman in New York with whom I have not been in touch since writing you last.

Eisendrath of Chicago: This gentlemen was in yesterday on behalf of the recently revived Arts Club of Chicago. They have a new floor designed by Mies van der Rohe at 109 East Ontario St. He was looking for a Braque, Roualt, Picasso, etc., carried out between 1941 and 1951. Though he wanted paintings the closest we could come was the Picasso drawing "young God" which he seemed to like and may invite. I assured him you would be happy to let him have it from the early part of May for a month or six weeks for the opening show of the new premises.

Modigliani: Dorothy Seiberling of Life phoned to ask whether we had photographs of any of Modigliani's sitters. Of course I told her no.

Mr. Richard Goetz came in and wants you to know that he has a very small Seurat painting from a private collector which is on the theme of the Grand Jatte. From his gesticulations I gathered it is about 4" x 6" or 7". He wants you to see it when you return. In fact he wants everybody to see it and extended a general invitation to the people who happened to be in the gallery.

Lebrun exhibition: Sunday's Herald carried the enclosed which relates chiefly to the ballet but happily for us was right next to our ad, and mentions in the text that our exhibition was opening next day. The Times sent in Preston instead of Devree and incidentally omitted our ad on Sunday, claiming there was not sufficient space on their page.

Mrs. George Douglas, the lady with the apartment on the East River and whom we visited, came to the opening. Also Dorothy Seiberling's father, a very attractive and pleasant gentleman from Akron. People began coming in the morning, but there was no afternoon crowd and the total for they day was thirty-four.

Miss Lucia Chase of the ballet claims to be buying the setting for the ballet and two of the costumes at 250 and 350 which makes the net result of the day $600. She told me she would be back tomorrow but until then I presume we cannot consider it definite.
