STATE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA
IOWA CITY

Germain Seligman, Esq.,
Jacques Seligman & Co., Inc.,
5 East 57th Street,
New York 22, N.Y.

Dear Mr. Seligman,

In your last letter of March 22nd you said that I would be advised by airmail letter of the shipping date of the drawings from New York. You also suggested that you yourself might carry the insurance "while the drawings are in transit both ways on exhibition." There is no earthly reason why you should incur such expenses and I should like to state that this insurance-item is about the only item that does not come off our budget for the exhibition (but is carried by the State University of Iowa) provided the University can take out the insurance here. We have arranged for this in most cases and in one or two instances where drawings have been sent to us. The only requisite is that we have word well ahead of the time of the dispatch.

If, on the other hand, you should have an insurance which you would have to carry I would ask you to bill me for the premium; although in that case the burden would be on my budget I should naturally not wish to have you run into any unnecessary expenses of this sort.

Otherwise everything seems to be in good order.

I broke my ankle as I may have mentioned, as a small sacrifice to the midwestern climate, and as a result have been away from my office and could not tell offhand whether or not your catalogue material has been returned. My assistant is in charge of those matters and am sure will take good care of the folder. He wanted to have the reproductions photographed and the text typed up which may have caused a delay. I hope we haven't put you to any trouble.

I shall be expecting then to hear from you concerning the insurance. Would it be convenient to send the drawings in the last week of April - so that I might count on their arrival early in May? May I repeat that we plan to close the exhibition around the tenth of July.

Yours sincerely,

William S. Heckscher
