Dear Mr. Seligman:

As you will gather from the enclosed copy of my letter to Dr. Valentiner, he has returned the photograph of the little girl - and with a very nice tribute written on the back, I thought. We thought it better to leave the envelope unopened (as far as Dr. Valentiner was concerned), for in it also was a little notation on his card for $100; this we thought was a matter that should be attended to only on your return.

Also today came this good letter from Mr. Sterling, which I copied, as I thought very probably you would be seeing him if you have not done so already. And here our old friend, Mr. de Lasarte of Barcelona, has turned up again! The acknowledgement to Mr. Sterling is also enclosed.

A very crumpled envelope arrived containing a photograph of the Mercury and a photostat of the Venus-- with no cardboard!! After some thinking and comparing handwriting, I decided they had come from Mme. Gutzwiller.

Other than that, I have been catching the foreign file up to date with the blue book, and that is turning out to be such a mammoth chore that I have hardly had time to begin on addressing.

Hoping you are having a good trip and pleasant weather,

Sincerely,

Sarah A. Winter
