[[top margin]] Dear Porjes - July 20th 54- [[/top margin]]

July 2, 1954

Dear Mr. Seligman:

I am in receipt of your letter dated June 28, 1954 and in accordance Miss Bixby mailed at once to Mons. Lebel the requested photo of the painting attributed to Artemesia Gentileschi by Air-Mail.

I am enclosing herein copy of the accounting received today from Maitre Rheims. As usual there are a lot of expenses. I also received a check from the Franco-American Bank for
$3,999.77 (F.Frs. 1,403.427 a 28-1/2)
which I deposited with J.P. Morgan. This amount represents all sales made so far and the "bon de vente" sent you June 30 for signature covers the balance of the tapestries. Unfortunately he did not include the promised Frs. 10,000. - deducted from the "Mater Dolorosa". I intend to acknowledge receipt of the check but would like to get your advice whether I should mention it and furthermore I want to give you a chance to check the current deductions.-

Mrs. Parker left yesterday for Hawley and arrived safely- we talked to her over the phone. She assigned to the ladies work to be done before our closing.

I took note from Mr. Cunningham's letter that the two Mss. are being returned to their owner and will cancel the insurance as soon as notified by Chenue. I am enclosing some mail from the apt.

With best greetings to you and Mrs. Seligman,

Yours very sincerely,

[] The expenses are very high I agree with you - However please acknowledge receipt of the check - in my absence and do write again about the 10,000 fcs- owed us - as per his letters of ... dates- You can add that our client Mr. Parker has expressed his great dissatisfaction not only as to the prices reached but also as regards the very high expenses - which are way beyond the original estimates- But that before conveying any of his particular grievances you wish to be able to communicate with me - as I am still in Europe where I am spending my vacation--" - Please send me a copy of your letter to Maitre Rheims on this topic - If you wish - read this over the telephone to Mrs. Parker as well as your suggested letter before mailing it.
With best greetings -
G.S. []
