Benson, Perry

August 6, 1954

Dear Mr. Benson:

By registered parcel post I am sending you today a small registered package containing four meters of silk which is to be used for a single breasted jacket three buttons, the sleeves to have cuffs.

These four meters of Italian silk are a present to me and off hand, in my opinion, should not be submitted to any duty, as they, so to say, are in transit in England. However, should it be necessary for your [[you]] to make a declaration for such a purpose, from the inquiries I have made, the cost of four meters is 16,000 lira or about US $26.00. Furthermore, as you know, I am an American citizen which should also facilitate matters.

Will you be good enough to let me know how much you will charge for undertaking such a jacket and also of the safe arrival of the package. Do let me hear from you on this whole matter at the Hotel Ritz, Place Vendome, where I shall be on August 20th until September 4th and [[strikethrough]] from [[/strikethrough]] whence I shall be going to New York.

Thanking you in advance,

Yours very sincerely,

Germain Seligman
