Dear Mr. Seligman:

The enclosed page is from an auction catalogue from the Dorotheum in Vienna (Dorotheergasse 11, tel. - R 25 0 18) to be held July 5th to 8th. The sculpture seems to be the most interesting part, so rather than attempt to unscramble all the German, here is the page with all the sculptures in the sale.

Saturday I went to the Metropolitan to see what had happened to the little girl; found her hanging in Gallery 19 with the other Vermeers - in the center of the shorter wall with the Woman with a Jug on one side and the Woman with a Lute on the other side. [[underlined]]No[[/underlined]] light except from the skylight, which rather flattened out the plastic effect of the painting, but otherwise she is shown off very well - especially as the wall behind is the same shade of blue as her cloak. She is definitely in a place of honor.

Sincerely,
Sally Winter
