No. 2                        September 23rd. 1955

Dear Germain:

It has been a quietly busy week which means that a lot of work has been done with nothing of great interest happening. 

Yesterday Mr. Emerson phoned the news, that Samuel H. Kress had died in the morning and you will have had our cable. We suppose there is nothing to do as the itemized obtuary in the Times says: Please omit flowers.

This morning we have Mrs. Vogel's negative reply of which a copy with our acknowledgement is enclosed. 
[[note]]Very disappointing - remind me to try to make an exchange with the Fogg against the Gros dwg. [[/note]]

Other then that Michael Straight, the gentleman interested in giving Rico Lebrun's Triptych away, was in, which is encouraging. However he wishes me to make additional contacts, so there actually is no news in that respect.

I just spoke to Mrs. Steen. Everything will be ready on the 30th. and nothing before then, not even the Moreau. As a matter of fact she claims the Moreau had lots of repaints and some of the old paint was even stuck on with glue. [[note]] Tell her to leave it until I return - for I do not like such stories!![[/note]]

Walter Pach phoned about the David article asking how many reprints you would wish of it. I said as many as possible which according to him will be six. From his conversation he is basking in the glory of sending them around to his friends and relatives. [[note]] Te-8-8844[[/note]]

I have also asked him to phone you on October 15th., not telling him why but keeping in mind an article for the Times' Magazine Section on Gros. 

Guess that 'bout brings us up to date.
