Dear Germain:

Today is definitely Vermeer Day. The painting will be delivered by Hack and Mr. Porjes in Brown's station wagon as Brown's always furnishes a very impressive receipt. - they even give me one last year when they drove me to Hawley - and keep copies themselves for some official[[strikethrough]]s[[/strikethrough]] records.

The painting is looking its best, Jack having had it out of its frame this morning to give the glass a final polishing and we all said a Happy au Revoir to her, relieved in a way to see her go, She did seem a problem child for a while, didn't she? [] Dear T.- Splendid []

I finally got in touch with Mrs. Hudson of Houston on the phone this morning telling her you had asked me to do so. I said you hoped she would come in while in New York but she will be here only until Wednesday when she is sailing for Europe. She asked me about the Vermeer but I told her that after having spoken to Mr. Malone on Thursday , when I told him it was reserved, the painting had been sold and delivered. She said she will try to some in. [] am anxious to know how she reacted if in?- []

Enclosed is the photograph of the painting in its frame , the innerda dark lines being of course the reflection of the frame. We purposefully have put nothing on the back and you already have the dimensions. [] Thanks - []

I will write to Mr. Malone on Thursday when Mrs. Hudson either will or will not have been in.

[[bottom margin]] Please ask Porjes to pay enclosed bill [[strikethrough]] as soon as you receive it [[/strikethrough]] right away - The books will be sent later on- They are all to be set aside for me - but dessins francais du 18e - I would like to have put specially aside for my return as urgent matter -
Best -
Germain [[/bottom margin]]
