June 10th., 1955.

Dear T.:

A couple of hours ago, I sent you the following cable, straight: TRANSFER SHOULD EFFECTED TODAY STOP IF NECESSARY TELEPHONE MORGAN AND CABLE ME STOP INSTEAD WASHINGTON OWNER WISHES DELIVERY TO ROBERT LEHMAN LONGISLAND WRITE HIM THERE ACCORDINGLY. I do hope that before this letter leaves or in any case, before it reaches you, I will have received your confirmation of the transfer being effected. As such transfer from the Chase Bank to Morgan & Company was made to Morgan to the credit of the general firm's account and as we have done right along, to have such funds go through the Engle Account, I am sending you herein, a letter addressed to Morgan ordering such transfer.

We have succeeded in obtaining a reduction of the sum owed the Duke, Now Two Hundred Ninety Thousand as per copy of a letter written to Mr. Rottier of June 9th, copy of which I am also sending you herein.

Finally, in this respect, you will find another copy of a letter which is dated June 14th which I shall mail on that date to Mr. Rottier at which time I expect that everything will have been settled satisfactorily as far as payment is concerned.

In view of the latter letter of June 14th you may receive directly a letter from Rottier requesting the transfer of the monies owed the Duke. I xxxxxx realize that such transfer will need by signature and I expect Porges to prepare such a letter accordingly and send it to me for my signature. I would then return it to you.

Now as regards the delivery. You have of course understood that it was to be delivered by hand to Robert Lehman in Long Island (I believe around Port Washington). The letter addressed to Robert Lehman in Long Island as well as his receipt made out in Long Island to testify that it was sent out of New York City and Mr. Galton may have thought of some additional protection in this respect. Again as was indicated as regards Washington, I expect Porges and Jack jointly and together, to deliver the painting in Port Washington. It is essential [[strikethrough]] to have [[/strikethrough]]
