Dear Mr. Seligman:

The good news of the purchase of the marble bas-relief has spurred me on to greater efforts, but unfortunately there is still nothing to report. However, here is a brief resume of researches you were particularly anxious to have, and I will hold the rest until September:

FOUQUET Meder and Schonbrunner "Handzeichnung alter Meister aus der Albertina und Anderen Sammlungen" v.6, #643 repr. As by Jean Fouquet, with note that attribution was made by Dr. Meder.
Lavallée, "Le Dessin Fr. du XIII - XVI siecle" 1930 - Pl. XVIII, #30, "attributed to Jean Fouquet" (mentioned as in Albertina)
k. Perls "Jean Fouquet" 1940, #286, repr. p.256 - "Wrongly attrib. to J. Fouquet"

Ring, "A Century of Fr. painting" 1949, Cat. #140, p.214, fig. 32.
"Attributed to Jean Fouquet" Figure of a young man
pen and bistre heightened with wash on orange coloured paper 21,5 x 14,7
unexplained initials on upper part of sheet
"The drawing, which I have examined carefully in the original is certainly French, but hardly by Fouquet" - in an earlier, more Gothic Style.
....

MARBLE ST JOHN No Mannheim or correct "M" sale located, and no reply as yet from M. Bacri. There was an imimportant Louis Courajod Sale, April 1911, in which was included under #137 a white marble standing apostle, amply draped, end of XIV cent., 40 cm. in height. Not reproduced, and of course I have no idea if it is at all relevant.
....

DAVID The photograph has not arrived from Mme Hein, so it has just been a question of looking for the subject. No "Cain and Abel" or subject of similar description found (checked Exh. Orangerie 1948, Peṕtit Palais 1913; Cantinelli; Hautecoeur (thru 1785); Holma; Jules David; Kaurois)

"L'Homme Couché" Feilchenfeldt Landscape - Mrs. Monroy
"Le Dormeur" (not yours) Study for La Parade - Davrey
"Pont de Courbevoie" Kettaneh
"Le Linge" ? coll.
