ELEANOR BAZNER phoned to inquire when you would be here and I told her a week from today. She will call then as she has a drawing for which she wants your opinion.

BOSTON MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS The tone of their letter herewith, asking for the photograph is so unpleasant, I decided they should wait, so if you wish Miss Morrison to take care of it now, [[strikethrough]] will [[/strikethrough]] you will of course tell her, or let them wait until September.

MR. DUVAL came down from Toronto on behalf of Mr. Feheley, regarding the pair of Braques. The immediate proposition is whether you would accept as part payment a Degas drawing and a Gauguin painting, both of which came from Knoedler's and on which he has left us the attached data, for the credit amount of $14,000 (fourteen thousand dollars) for the two. I told him I doubted whether you would be interested in the Gauguin particularly....but in view of the prices that Gauguins have brought this summer maybe you would? He brought up the question of the pulls in the corners of the Braques - incidentally he did not look at them this time - asking whether they would be attended to. I deliberately avoided any answer, simply shrugging my shoulders and saying it was very delicate work as they can't be touched, being pastels. Anyway he is anxious to know either directly from you or from me and should you consider going to Toronto to see these two items, Mr. Duval said it could be at Mr. Feheley's expense. Mr. Duval's telephone no. is Walnut 3-9433 and Mr. Feheley's, Empire 6-7633. In any event Mr. Duval implied this is not the final word and I have promised both Mr. Duval and Mr. Feheley to communicate with the latter should there be any outside interest in the Braques.

MRS. STEWART Her letter has been acknowledged as per copy herewith.
