SAM HUNTER of the Museum of Modern Art phoned asking whether he could come and consult us on Juan Gris as they are going to hold a big Gris exhibition next Spring. We are having prints made from several of the negatives which related to our Gris show and which will be in theirs.
To make up for his revue on "Oh, Fickle Taste!" When next he has something published he is going to see whether you will revue it.

THOMAS FLANNERY, JR., 1174 Michigan Avenue, Wilnette, Illinois came in to see you as he is looking for enamels. He is not interested in any fragments and I guess you had already shown him the pieces from the D'Arenberg Collection when he was here two years ago. I have shown him, the knop $2900 (two thousand nine hundred), ivory crucifixion $2500 (two thousand five hundred), the new plaque "Christ in Majesty", the small "St. John" enamel and MS 3,$14,000 (fourteen thousand dollars)
He was most interested in the new plaque which has no price with the item, in the catalogue or anywhere else, He is very anxious to know it and even seemed to be apprehensive that the enamel might be sold during the summer, [[strikethrough]]BUT[[/strikethrough]] but maybe when you are here next week you would like to write him and give the price so that he can get accustomed to it.

EDWARD MUNVES (President, James Robinson Inc. (mostly silversmiths) 12 E. 57th St. New York, PL 3-7433, came in when I was with Mr. Flannery. He wanted to see you about the Hebrew plate which had been in our show and this seems to be on behalf of a museum man who may have seen it then. Anyway, Miss Morrisson and Miss McGregor tell me he is leaving for Europe and that his attitude was one of relief that the question could be left for the fall. The plate had already been removed so he did not see it, yesterday, and no price for it had been quoted to anybody during the exhibition.

MRS. PARKER instead of leaving today for the country, I am staying in town through Monday as both Mr. Feheley and Mr. Duval have telephoned that Duval will come in on Monday.

JULY FOURTH falls on Thursday and therefore we checked with other galleries and found that they are remaining closed on Friday, the fifth, and sooooooo we are doing likewise.

UTRECHT Dr. Maria Elisabeth Houtzeger, Director Centraal [[sic]] Museum, Utrecht, about whom "Margaret" wrote you from Canada, came in yesterday. We did our best to show her a few things but she seemed particularly to want to see Dutch pictures. She is quite a character, about forty, rather good looking, acts like a New England spinster, but....has brilliant red toe nails.

MRS. TALMEY OF VOGUE phoned to ask whether we had any record of a Self-Portrait by Seurat. The closest we could come is "L'Artiste dans son Atelier" now in the Gallentin Philadelphia Museum Collection, so we are having a print of that made for her.
DR. AND MRS. BARTON ROBERTSON (the ex Martha Barton) are at the gallery right now. You will be particularly interested to know that they saw the Courbet in Wash. and were told it is going on exhibition shortly. They hope to see you if you can stay in town until you get back. Mrs. Robertson found for us the original blue book notes and old European file notes. which Miss Kaplan will show you when you return.
