Dear Mr. Seligman:

Finally after 3 more days of auditing I got rid of the man from the City. It was an awful experience. He told me that this form had its first audit since its existence in New York. The result: $48.62 due on City Sales Tax
231.84 due on Gross Receipt Tax

Sales Tax: This amount is so small Mr. Robbins said he would not bother. They audited 3 years, that means 16.[?] for each year.

Gross Receipt Tax: Mr. Robbins wants to discuss the matter over with Mr. Galton. He did not make up his mind whether to accept.
I am enclosing an exact accounting which I copied from the auditor. They have a test period of there months. All disallowances in that period they apply to the three year period they are auditing.

reimbursement Gersel: Disallowed 21.111.11 Here they are right. Mr. Galton always told me not to include the amount reimbursed by Gersel but it seems they are considered receipts.-by the City and should be included.
G.S. Sales: These sales of personal items were not included in our Sales and he picked them up by going over the books.

Foreign Sales Disallowed: 56,657.73 T ax to pay 125.--

Here is the only items we can kick and the one which amounts to something. They claim that these two items from the testperiod are not to be considered foreign sales because they were exportet as personal laggugge and not shipped as freight..- I don't know what Mr. Robbins will, decide to do but Ionly know I don't want to see them here again.--

I am enclosing misc. copies of letters received and written tMc Kay Morant which are self-explanatory. Also copy of invoice and letter sent to Maggs Bros. re. Ms. 82.& copy of letter dated June 18 received from Lefebvre-Foinet.
Re. Acccountg of Christie Manson which seems to be all right, except the expenses I could not check. Please note the addition of L 37-3-4 representing 5% of their commission which they pay to us. On the other hand they charge commission on the not sold items.

For Mrs. Seligman I am enclosing Blue Cross Bill due July 1, I thought she wants to pay.

National Gallery, London: Miss Kaplan enclosed copy of letter received from Chenue. I have no further news.

I also have no news from Geneva and Zurich as regards the shipped items.

With best regards to you and Mrs. Seligman

Very sincerely yours
