Holiday is over with the result that we had an extraordinary amount of mail this morning but first I have to go back to the last things Wednesday eve.

May 29 
IDA RUBIN'S CLIENT
Ida Brophy Rubin's client for a Renoir drawing came in. I did not get her name. I showed her the Degas drawing and the Redons, neither of which seemed suitable for her father. It seem she would like something delicate and gay such as a Renoir nude bathing, but I urged her to come back in the fall when you would be bringing the new stock. 

MEYRIC ROGERS
of Chicago also came in Wednesday late when we had everything for the Religious show excepting the manuscripts, in place. He was quite frantic about the two Majolica plates, "St.Jerome" and"St. Francis", chiefly the former though he asked and was given prices (St. Jerome $1900 - one thousand nine hundred - and St. Francis $1300 - one thousand three hundred) of both plates as well as photographs.

HEBREW PLATE
While I am on the subject of Majolica, I can not find my note as to the price of this. Should Ted Heinrich come down, will you please repeat it.

Edward Speelman, London returned the photo of the Tiepolo "Leopards" without any letter.

MAGGS
Letter received
"Things have become rather hectic about MS 82 as you will have realised from our contradictory cables.
   First of all, thank you for your letter of May 22nd, asking us if MS 82 had not been sold, to advise you in advance of its shipment so that could arrange for transit insurance.
   We cabled you on May 27th: PLEASE INSURE MANUSCRIPT 82 RETURNING AIRMAIL WEDNESDAY MAY 29TH.
   There have been difficulties in the sale of this manuscript as the client who looked as though he were going to purchase it, delayed his decision until a few days ago and it was then a negative. one.
   In the meanwhile as time was running out we have been in touch with the Bibliotheque Royale de Belgique offering it to them subject to our other customer declining. This morning I received from them (Mr. Delaisse) a letter to say that they were agreed on buying the MS. from us for £1500, but that they ought to see it before buying, adding "It is only a question of principle, as we have complete confidence in your opinion."
   On receiving this, I wired you this morning: MANUSCRIPT EIGHTY-TWO ALMOST CERTAINLY SOLD. DELAYING RETURNING. MAY WE HOLD ANOTHER VEEK DUE SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES.
   It is, as you will gather, unlikely that we shall need return it to you but I should just like to have the loop-holet
