January 14, 1965

Dear Mr. Claas:

Do have my thanks for your so very nice letter of January 10 and for the photograph you were good enough to forward.

It gives me indeed a much better idea of the drawing which I would like to acquire.

In your letter received on January 5, you quoted a figure of £ 350 (THREE HUNDRED FIFTY POUNDS) and you added "or a little less", thus, do indicate the very lowest one, delivered New York. In other words, you will take care of the packing, shipping, insurance, and I will send you my check upon receipt of the drawing.

You wrote also that it has an elegant old French frame - is it actually an antique? Otherwise, as you may know, frames are taxed by Customs. Thus, in your Customs declaration there should be a nominal value mentioned for the frame.

The shipment should be addressed to our Customs Broker in the following manner:

Jacques Seligmann & Co., Inc.
c/o Bemo Shipping Co.
11 Broadway
New York 4, New York

To whom all papers should be sent, mailing copies of same to my Firm. This applies also to your own invoice.

I did not realize that you were a friend of Lisl Popper whom you mention - do give her my very best when you see her.

Looking forward to hearing further from you and with personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
