Dear Mrs. Astor:

At Mr. Jacob Bean's request, I am submitting to your approval and delivering to your home, by bearer, a drawing by:

HOIN, Claude-Jean-Baptiste - "Portrait of a Man"

Pierre noire and white chalk on tan paper--20-1/4" x 16-1/4".

The price of which is $1,800 (ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS)

This drawing is characteristic of the artist's talent and is in excellent condition.

Hoin, 1750-1817, became known as "Peintre de Monsieur"- the Compte de Provence, later Louis XVIII and brother of King Louis XVI. The artist was especially noted for his distinguished portraits, as well as for his delicate small gouaches.

Looking forward to hearing further from you,

Yours very sincerely,

Germain Seligman
