Re. the Tintoretto portrait to be sent to the Speed Museum, Louisville, to arrive there in the week of May 15-21, the date of the Trustee meeting to be on the 25th of May.

DRAFT of a letter:

Dear Mr. Page,

As agreed with Mr. Seligman who has left for Europe in the meantime, I take pleasure in advising you that the portrait by Tintoretto with assistant, "Portrait of a Procurator of San Marco" is being shipped momentarily by Air Express to your museum to your attention.

Herewith you will find an on-approval invoice on which you will find confirmation of the data given you by Mr. Seligman. As you recall, the price is $18,000, (Eighteen thousand dollars).

The painting will remain insured by us while in your museum's custody and while in transit both ways.

I understand that the meeting of your purchasing committee will be held May 25 and we hope that this very remarkable portrait will become part of the permanent collection of your museum. However, should this not be the case, may we count on you to return it at your earliest convenience.

With best greetings,

Mrs. Theresa D. Parker
Jacques Seligmann & Co.
