Dear Jack Schrader:

Your nice letter of July 20th was forwarded to me here in California where we are vacationing and I hasten to send you herein my firm's check in the amount of $300.00 made out to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

This represents reimbursement of the over-payment made by the Menil Foundation on the sale of the Doré drawing for which they were actually billed only $2,700.00. I had originally thought that they should be reimbursed with this amount which would be turned over to you. However, your solution of having the check made to the museum is logical as it leads to the same result.

Later next season I shall have a Renaissance marble which I think you will like and this will give me the pleasure, I hope, of seeing you in New York.

My galleries being closed for the month of August, your acknowledgement to me at the above address would be much appreciated.

With kindest thoughts to you and to Philippe when he returns,

Yours,

Germain Seligman
