1. Name of your Sub-District? Tuscaloosa

2. Whole number of Refugees or Freedmen's Schools in the District? 4 Day? 3 Night? - Sabbath? 1.

3. Location of Schools? Tuscaloosa

5. Names and post office address of Day-School Teachers?
R Furman (White) Minerva Gant,Lewis Griffin Frm Shortridge. Mr. Furman is a Colledge graduate & has a very good school, the others are only capable to teach little children.  all doing the best they can in their own small way

6. Whole number of School-houses for Freedmen in your District? none Their condition, capacity, value and by whom owned? 

7. Number of your visits to Schools? 3 or 4 Day? same  Night? - Sabbath? 1

8. Number of educational meetings held by you during the month? none Where? Impractable at this time 

9. Number and names of places, now destitute, in which Day-Schools might be organized? 3 or 4 North Port Tuscaloosa Co Carrolton Pickens Co. Fayete C.H. Fayete Co

10. Number of pupils (estimated) who would attend such schools? 
30 or 40 each perhaps

11. Amount which would probably be raised by the Freedmen, for Schools purposes, in each destitute neighborhood? 
scarcely any, all very poor, it ging about all they can do to getvictuals & cloths

12. What efforts are you making to secure the support of schools by pupils, parents, boards of education, or the State government? 

None at all

13. Whole number of additional School-houses, for Freedmen, now wanted in you Sub-District? 
Very difficult to say now, after the State Govt is organised, will be able to say.

14. Could you organize your Sub-District into School Districts, each with a school Committee pledged to carry on Schools therein? 
Impossible at this time

15. To what extend would help from without be needed in such cases? 
alltogether nearly
16. What is the public sentiment as to the education of the Freedmen and Poor Whites? 
Very hostile to freedman
17. Are Night-Schools for Adults needed in your District? yes  In what way could they be carried on?
can hardly say, but think while the military is here, it could be done if there was good & earnest teachers.

18. What more can this Bureau do for educating the children of Refugees (or Poor Whites)?
Nothing except imploy Teachers
 
19. How long will Northern charitable aid be needed for Freedmen and Refugee Schools of your District? 
Impossible to say until we can se the working of the new State Government.
