Sir

Yours of the 13th inst. transmitting vouchers for Retained Bounty due Benjaman Allen has been received- I have the honor to return the vouchers with the information that on the 29" of January 1867. Maj. Coats went to Fort Macon [[strikethrough]] Norfolk [[/strikethrough]] N. C. and paid seventy seven men of Co's J. and K. 37" U. S. C. T. the Retained Bounty due them, Capt. G. W. Singer witnessing the vouchers- Among the men paid was Benjaman Allen, he making his mark. I cannot think there was any mistake about it, as they were paid from the Company Rolls- just previous to being mustered out.

Yours Resp'y
