General,
Your communication of June 12th 1868, with enclosures, was duly received.

I enclose herewith vouchers for $57 54/100 signed by John Bowman, late Priv. Co "F" 37th U.S.AC. Tps, being balance of U.S. Bounty due him.

The "Statement" attached to the receipt, shows a deduction of $127 96/100 for "Advances," Bowman states that he never received any money.  Please inform me regarding the amount, or amounts, advanced, and the name of the party or parties making the advance.
