Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands,
Washington, D.C., August 12th 1868.

By direction of the Secretary of War,
Mr. Roswell Waldo is hereby appointed a Clerk in the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, State of Virginia at a salary of one hundred dollars per month

This appointment is made under the provisions of "An Act to continue in force and amend an Act to Establish a Bureau for the relief of Freedmen and Refugees, and for other purposes." It will take effect August 16th 1868 and remain in force until revoked by orders from this Office. 

The oath required by law will be taken, and filed in the office of the Asst. Commissioner of the State of Virginia.
