City Point Va Oct 7th 1868 Maj J R Stone. Sub Asst Com Sir I would herewith state that I never belonged to any State organization during the war I was Act A Surgeon during the greater portion of the war; most of the time in Philadelphia During the early portion of 1865 I came to Virginia in that capacity and remained in the service until January 31st 1866, when I was relieved by an order from Col Simmons then Medical Director of the Dpt of Virginia I am Rsptly Yours (Signed) A W Fritz A true copy J R Stone Sub Asst Com Bureau R F &c
