11. Remarks.

"Good Hope" primary school was opened in The midst of a community opposed to its organization. No room could be rented in or near town. I vacated my own dining room - a separate building from my dwelling, but connected with it - organized the school in it, still occupy it, and will continue to do so till the School house is finished which will be I hope in five or six weeks. It is to be 30 x 40 feet. The school opened with Forty Six, and increased daily so that in ten days the number went up to seventy two. At least forty of these have not been absent a single day. The school is doing finely. Forty had to be taught the Alphabet. All these - 2 excepted - are now spelling. Justice to the scholars, requires the aid of an assistant. Located in the town, it will always average its present number. I could not have effected what I have done but for the aid afforded by my wife, who is an old teacher. I hope she may be appointed regularly.

J.M. Jennings A.M.M.D.
Teacher.
