I have the honor to ask if there is any way I can get a supply of school books to give away. I had a few left by Capt Austin to sell forwarded by some religious society. The proceeds if they ever come in to be forwarded to this society.  The four I had left over I entrusted to the Wytheville school mistress. In my Sub District out of some twenty five schools but four are taught by Northern Teachers. Three of these teachers supply their schools with books gratis. The others do every thing they can when they board the teacher & are all miserably poor. Many in fact, mostly of [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] my schools are located where, if they had the money, the books could not be bought.  In fact there is not a decent book store in my whole Sub Dist. Can you not aid us if not. Can't you direct me how to go to work to aid myself. 500 school books distributed in this Dist would increase the
