Genl, 
I have been placed by Genl Stoneman Comdg the 1st District, temporarily in the position of Clerk of the Hustings Court of this city. As the situation will demand a very considerable portion of my time, I beg leave to relinquish, for  the present, my salary, but I will cheerfully continue to perform such duties as my time will allow should you wish me to retain the Office of Inspector of Schools.
