General:

I have the honor to apply for authority to go to Washington to consult with the Chief Quartermaster and Disbursing Officer of the Bureau as to the disposition of property for which I am responsible and the closing up of the business connected with my dept. of the Bureau which I am confident could be done in a more satisfactory manner by a personal interview than by correspondence.

Very Respectfully
Your Ob't Serv't.
