The money will be disbursed thro Bvt Lt Col S.P. Lee, Asst. Supt of Schools at Alexandria Va

In accordance with information contained in an endorsement of January 8th 1869 from Chief Q.M Bureau R.F. & A.L. I have to inform you, that no authority exists for the manufacture of material into clothing, or for the distribution of clothing amongst destitute Refugees and Freedmen.

The material will be held subject to the Order of the Commissioner.

Madam,
Inquiries relative to your children Lewis and Frances have been made. It is found that they were duly bound to Mr Brown Hite in 1866. They do not appear to be well treated, or clothed, and their education is neglected.

In consequence of the discontinuance of this Bureau, and it having no further jurisdiction in such matters. Your only mode of redress will be through the civil authorities.
