General,
I have the honor to submit the following report of the operations of Bureau affairs for the month of December 1868, viz:

The number of "Freedmen" aided by the Bureau during the past month was "three thousand six hundred and thirteen" (3613) of this number "Three hundred and ninety four" were in Hospital.

The number of "Refugees" receiving rations was One hundred and fifty six (156).-

The number of "Schools" in this District, during the month was Two hundred and Seventy six (276) of which number Thirty eight (38) were night schools.- The number of Teachers were Three hundred and fifteen (315) of which, one hundred and sixty eight (168) were white.- The whole number of Scholars Twelve thousand five hundred and sixty eight (12568). with an average attendance of nine thousand five hundred and four (9504).-

The number of persons treated for sickness by the Bureau Medical Department during the month was Thirty-three hundred (3300).- The number remaining under treatment December 31st 1868 was Three hundred and fifty one (351).-

The number of "insane" remaining at the end of the month was Seventy Two (72).-

The number of "Orphans" under charge of the Bureau on the 31st Dec. 1868 was Ninety nine (99).
