I have the honor to submit the following report of the operations of Bureau Affairs in the Month of March 1869 viz:

The number of "Freedmen" aided by the Bureau during the past month was Three hundred and ninety three (393) all inmates of "Howards Grove Hospital", Richmond Va.

The number of "Schools" in this District, during the month was Three hundred and twenty, of which number forty six (46) were night schools. The number of Teachers was three hundred and fifty four (354) of which one hundred and eighty one (181) were white. The whole number of Scholars Sixteen thousand six hundred and thirty six (16,636), with an average attendance of Twelve Thousand Seven hundred and nine (12,709)-

"Howard Grove Hospital"
The number of "persons treated for sickness" was one hundred and seventy six (176)- The number remaining under treatment March 31st 1868 was one hundred and sixty (160)-

The number of "Old persons" remaining at end of month was fifty two (52)-

The number of "Insane" remaining March 31st was Seventy one (71)-

The number of "Orphans" under charge of the Bureau at the end of the month was sixty six (66).
