There are forty five (45) women and forty six (46) children belonging to soldier's families willing to go to Texas to join their husbands and fathers.

In reply to your communication of the 24th inst. I have the honor to report that about 250 Two hundred & fifty Teachers have been employed in this state the last year. The schools are nearly all closed, or about to be closed. I think that from fifteen hundred to two thousand Teachers can be profitably employed during the next term.

I have the honor to report that I have just returned from Norfolk where I was called by the reports of disturbances existing between the whites and the Freedmen. I found the whole affair over on my arrival and respectfully submit the following, which I believe to be a true statement of the facts.
