I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of yours of the 21st inst in relation to the case of Brickley vs. Fisher

On learning of the result of Mr. Brickleys visit to the Eastern Shore I telegraphed Capt Flagg to order Fisher to report to me without delay. I also telegraphed the Commissioner to request Mr. Brickley to come to Richmond and see me requesting that transportation might be furnished him.

I will try and close the troublesome case if possible

I received letters on the 20th from Fisher and Brickley - Fishers letter was filled with gross misrepresentations and Brickleys, but for the irritation he must have been suffering from Fishers conduct towards him, would have been insulting.

If I am not mistaken Fisher has perjured himself in his affidavit that he did not give aid or encouragement to the rebellion - this affidavit is now in my possession
