Commissioner, Washington, D.C.

General,
In reply to your communication of Nov 13th, I have the honor to state that the only Vol: Staff Officers now doing Bureau duty exclusively, in this Department, are Surgeon J.J. De Lamater, Chief Med: Officer, and Captain Geo: L. White, A.Q.M. Chief Q.Mr. [[Quarter Master]] and Financial Agent, and that the services of both these officers can be dispensed with. - If you direct them to be relieved, I will cause the Medical Director and Chief Qr: Mr. of the Department to perform the corresponding duties of the Bureau.

It will be necessary to detain the officers relieved, a short time, in order that they may inform their successors concerning the business of their respective departments.-
