I have the honor to submit the following report: of the operations of Bureau

affairs for the month of September 1867.

The number of Freedmen aided by the Bureau during the last month was sixteen hundred and Fifty eight (1658.) of this number, Ten hundred and Fifty five, (1055) were sick in Hospital.

The decrease of dependents from the preceding month is Nine hundred and Ninety nine (999)

The number of Refugees receiving rations was one hundred and eighteen (118) an increase of fifteen (15) over the previous month.

The number of Schools in the Dist. during the month was thirty six (36.) none of which are public Free. Schools - The whole number of Teachers, was (37) thirty seven, of which Eleven (11) are white. The whole number of pupils was Eleven hundred and sixty seven (1167.) - The public Free Schools will be generally opened in the month of October.

The number of persons treated by Bureau Medical Officers for sickness during the month was Four thousand two hundred and seventy six (4276) - The number remaining under treatment at the end of the month was Eleven hundred and eighty five (1185).

The number of Orphans under charge of the Bureau, at the end of the month was one hundred and sixty two, (162).

The number of Insane, remains the same as reported in August Report.
