General,
I have the honor to submit the following report of the operations of Bureau affairs for the month of October 1867.

The number of Freedmen aided by the Bureau during the past month was one thousand four hundred and eighty two. (1482.) of this number nine hundred and ninety six (996.) were in Hospital

The decrease of dependents from the preceding month is one hundred and seventy six (176) persons.

The number of Refugees receiving rations was one hundred and fifty eight (158) showing an increase over the preceding month of Forty (40)

The whole number of schools in the District during the month was one hundred and fifty two (152.) of which one hundred and Eleven (111) are Public Free-
