of which number "twenty three" (23) were white. The whole number of Scholars "Two thousand eight hundred and eighty one" (2881), with an average attendance of "Eighteen hundred and eighty three" (1883).

The number of persons treated for sickness by the Bureau Medical Department during the month was "Four thousand six hundred and eighty one" (4681). The number remaining under treatment August 31. 1868 was "Sixteen hundred and twenty six" (1626).

The number of Insane remaining at the end of the month was "Sixty eight" (68).

The number of Orphans under charge of the Bureau on the 31 of August 1868 was "Eighty two" (82).
