I have the honor to submit the following report of the operations of Bureau affairs for the month of September 1868, viz:

The number of Freedmen aided by the Bureau during the past month was, "Twenty seven hundred and sixty one" (2761), of this number "Four hundred and forty one" (441), were in Hospital.

The number of Refugees receiving rations was "Ninety six" (96).

The number of Schools in this District during the month was "Eighty seven" (87), of which number "eight" (8), were night schools. The number of teachers were "Eighty one" (81), of which "Twenty four" (24) were white. - The whole number of Scholars "Two thousand, six hundred and seventy six" (2676), with an average attendance of "Nineteen hundred and twenty six" (1926).

The number of persons treated by for sickness by the Bureau Medical Departm. during the month was "Five thousand seven hundred and twenty five" (5725). The number remaining under treatment Sept. 30. 1868, was "Twelve hundred and seventy three" (1273).
