I have the honor to request transportation from Richmond, Va. to Memphis, Tenn. for Dilce Mayfield, a destitute freedwoman aged 75 years._
Sufficient evidence has been received at these Hd Qrs to show that her son at Memphis, Tenn: is able and willing to care for her. She will be dependent on the Government for support for a considerable length of time, if not furnished with transportation.

In accordance with instructions contained in Circular No 10, C.S, War Dept. Bur. R.F. & A.L, I have the honor to submit the names of the following named officers and. Agents of this Bureau, for retention on duty in this State, after the 31st December 1868, viz:

Bvt Maj. Geo. Q. White, Capt. 44. U.S.I, V.R.C, Chf. Q.M, Disb. Off. & A.C.S, as "Disbursing officer for the Educational Department and payment of Bounties."

E. M. Webber, Inspector, as "Agent for the payment of Bounties."

I desire, if possible, to retain Andrew Washburn, Inspector of Schools, in his present position; if he cannot be retained as such, I wish to retain him as the fourth "Asst. Superintendent of Schools"_ If, however, he can be retained as Inspector of Schools, I wish Thos. G. Jackson, Sub. Asst. Comr., retained as the fourth "Asst. Superintendent of Schools.
