Colo O. Brown
Chief of Freedmens Bureau for Virginia

Dear Sir. When I left you in Richmond you requested me to report every thing interesting in relation to the Freedmen which came in my way. This I will [[strikethrough]] do [[/strikethrough]] now do in a brief manner.

I reported according to your instructions to Capt Bohonon & was sent by him to Warrenton Faukier Co. to act in connection with Capt. Orr. Here I may state that I found the Military all that co'd be asked in the circumstances. The Commandant of the Sub-district Liu Colo Hinds, understands his position & is anxious to aid, support & protect to the extent of his orders. Capt Orr, altho' young, & perhaps too much mixed up with the people of the place to act in all cases independent, yet showed a good disposition to do all that co'd be done in the premises, so if my mission to Faukier seems to be some what a failure
