City of Richmond
June 22' 1865

Col. Brown,
In Command.

Sir,
About the 22d or 23d of May last, two colored women who were formerly my property, just before they left - broke open, and by false keys entered my drawers &c &c and stole property to the value of about $800 to $1000

They went to Washington D.C. where they were arrested - and a good deal of the property so taken and stolen was identified. The Justice who examined the charges has written to the Governor of Virginia, that the said women, named Mary and Cinoma - are, by him held and detained, for a proper requisition from the proper authorities.

I respectfully ask that the proper requisition may be regularly made, by and through your department, on the proper authorities in Washington - for the said colored women so resting and detained under a charge of Felony committed by them in this City.

Respectfully -
S Shwartz
