I expect to get several Officers from the Veteran Reserve Corps, and will send some of them to you. A little care may be taken by your sub-agents in the selections of Officers or Sergeants to assist them. A few moments of conversation will determine the fitness for the duty in hand. The allowing an officer to command his company or Detachment, being responsible in all military matters to his military head and at the same time reporting and acting with us may prevent our getting the rubbish-
