War Department,
Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands,
Washington, Aug 29th, 1865.

Col. O. Brown. Asst Commr for Va.

Col. Please let me know as soon as practicable the condition of the confiscated estate of Armistead T. Rust, containing 400. acres, three miles north of Leesburg, in Loudon [[Loudoun]] Co. Va., now in your possession as [[strikethrough]] age [[/strikethrough]] Asst. Commr. of this Bureau. If it has not yet been rented, or occupied under your direction, please let it rest as it is for awhile. I think that Admiral Lee of our Navy, who has just returned to Washington has an interest in said estate: will know more about it after you write.

The matter of transportation is in abeyance, waiting for the return
