of it is so great, & it must take a long time to supply this want from foreign immigration.

The white & colored population, from long habit, have become suited to each other, & in the event of a general separation, they would probably soon request the change that had taken place.  The disarrangement of the relations between them [[strikethrough]] that have taken place [[/strikethrough]]  I look on as temporary, & in the new channel which must soon be formed, the current of affairs, I have no doubt, will, in a little time run smoothly.

I have written more than I intended, & should not have done so, were it not that a statement of the condition of my plantations, may be taken as a general & fair exposition of that of the estates in this part of Virginia.
