I write to obtain information concerning a crop of corn which I have raised on a plantation that was abandoned.  General Hicks gave me permission to inclose with a fence as much land as I thought I might desire to support myself and family, seeing that I had never been on the government.  I did so.  And now one Dr. White, who was a colonel in the rebel army, comes and claims [[strikethrough]] haff [[/strikethrough]] half the produce of the land I have cultivated, which I am informed conflicts with a circular issued from the Freedmens Beaureau.
