It is said too, that old Taylor loudly boasts of his influence over you, and claims he can get more from you than he can from the President. 

In view of these things I was much surprised to see to night a telegram from you, stopping the removal of all wood and lumber from Taylor Farm. Now we have no wood on hand for the Soup houses, and they must stop this week or early next. All the wood from the other farms has been used. Would it not be well then to modify your order so as to let Capt. Flagg use his own judgement in the matter? He is a bonded officer, and is responsible for his acts. Why not let him take all the responsibility and remove it from your own shoulders? 
If Taylor Farm is surrendered to its owner, with the Government property thereon, I believe a very strong attempt will be made to deprive you of your position, and by some too, whom you regard as your friends.
