Reduction of Number of Employees.

Upon a close examination of the number of Employees and Agents reported by Genl Armstrong upon his "Report of Persons and Articles hired" (Form No 2) for February 1866 - I found that many more persons had been employed under Capt Wilder's administration and were still under pay, than were necessary to transact properly and with the necessary facility the current business of the District. Genl Armstrong admitted this to be the fact - and I therefore recommend that the following named persons whose names and duties appear upon the Report of this District for February be discharged at the end of the current month.
