Norfolk Va June 15 1865.
8 o clock P.M.

Dear Sir:
An order is printed and about to be promulgated from Hd Qrs. Dist Eastern Va, ordering all officers on detached duty within this District to report to their regiments — also one directing the Commanding Officer of regiments to send off all their baggage previous to the 20th inst. I will be included in this. You expressed a desire at one time to have me remain with you whatever disposition was made of the troops in the Department. I also desire to remain with you, if you are satisfied. An order from the War Department will now be necessary to retain [[strikethrough]] my with you [[/strikethrough]] me. Be kind enough to let me hear from you so that I can make my dispositions accordingly.
